Our residential program allows our boarding students to begin assuming more personal responsibility and independence in a nurturing and supervised setting, which helps prepare them for a smooth transition from high school to college.
One of the most distinctive features of The Harvey School is our 5-day boarding program for students in grades 9-12. As they get a taste of independence, boarding upper school students benefit from even more access to various campus resources including faculty, coaches, the art center, gym, ice rink, proctored evening study halls, and campus events and activities.
Dedicated faculty members, and in some cases faculty families, make their homes on campus and develop strong relationships with the boarders, offering supervision, academic support, and an extended family. Two faculty members are assigned a maximum of 16 students on every dorm floor. Students arrive as early as Sunday evening and stay through Friday afternoon. On weekends, students return home to their families, friends, or host families.
In the evenings, students share dinner in the dining hall, attend the mandatory two-hour study hall, and spend some free time. We celebrate birthdays and enjoy common activities like trips to a local movie theater, ice cream shop, the mall, and bowling alley.
